Hot Stone Massage

Integrative massage looks at the whole picture of your body, not just one tight muscle or a set of symptoms. By blending deeply relaxing techniques with focused therapeutic work, it can help ease pain, calm your nervous system, increase circulation and energy, and support better sleep and stress relief.

Sessions are designed to be progressive, building on each other over time. Much like strength training. I consider both your history and how you’re feeling right now so your nervous system and body can gradually adapt to the work we do, with less muscle guarding and more room for pain to soften and shift. Leaving you feeling more grounded, recovered, and experiencing more ease of movement.

The body is complex, and so is our relationship with pain. Integrative massage offers a healing, therapeutic space for your mind to slow down and notice how your body is actually feeling. Life is busy for most of us, and sometimes simply lying on the table for an hour is what finally lets us tune in to what’s been going on inside. That’s part of the quiet, powerful work of integrative massage.

It’s about integrating mind and body and becoming more present and working with discomfort from a different perspective. Instead of seeing pain as something separate to fight or chase, we get curious about it, support your nervous system, and create space for tension to soften and shift over time.

Think of each session as tending to your inner landscape. Clearing what’s overgrown, softening what’s rigid, and helping you feel more rooted in your own body. Over time, this kind of care can support a calmer nervous system, easier movement, and a stronger, more grounded way of living in your body.

Massage Aftercare

  • Generally, light to moderate exercise is recommended in the first 24 hours after your  massage depending on your movement goals. Walking is great to do right after your massage to integrate the work we did.

  • Balanced meal right after to support muscle repair.

  • Focus on ongoing self care rituals at home if stress management is part of your goal.

The cupping used at Ash Tree Massage Therapy involves soft, silicone cups in various sizes. They’re a gentle tool that can be woven into your session and often have a similar effect to massage, helping relax the nervous system and ease tension.

Cupping can be especially helpful for old injuries, trigger points, areas of chronic tension, or limited range of motion.

Benefits may include increased local circulation and a greater sense of space in the fascia and muscles and for many people, it simply feels good.

I typically use light to medium suction and place cups for about 1–3 minutes. Depending on your body, temporary red or purplish marks (petechiae) may appear. These marks are caused by small capillaries under the skin responding to the vacuum-like suction, and your body then sends resources to the area to support repair.

My intention is to use cupping in a way that feels supportive and comfortable, so I generally aim for lighter work that creates more space for muscles to relax, rather than the focus being to leave strong marks on your body. Sometimes discoloration still happens, and there may be underlying factors that may influence this, including lifestyle and individual body chemistry. Typically any lingering marks will fade within 5-7 days and are not painful.

Overall, when used safely, cupping can be a wonderful addition to massage, another option we can explore if it feels like a good fit for you.
