Insurance Reimbursement

Ash Tree Massage Therapy is a solo, cash based practice. I don’t bill insurance directly, but many clients are able to seek reimbursement for specific concerns or if their insurance company offers benefits for massage. My goal is to make the process as simple and transparent as possible so you can decide what works best for you. How Insurance Reimbursement Works

You pay for your session out of pocket at the time of service
I provide you the proper documentation.
You submit those documents to your insurance company for possible reimbursement

SOAP Notes

If your provider or referring clinician gives you specific information they need included, you’re welcome to share that with me.

What You’re Responsible For

Because I don’t work directly with insurance companies, you are responsible for:

Paying in full at the time of service
Checking your own benefits to see if massage therapy is covered
Obtaining any required referral, letter of medical necessity or prescription (for example, from your doctor or other provider)
Submitting the documentation to your insurance company on your own time
I’m happy to provide documentation, but I cannot guarantee coverage, reimbursement amounts, or timelines.

Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company

If you’re hoping to use insurance, it can help to call the number on the back of your card and ask:

Do I have benefits for massage therapy?
Is massage therapy covered when provided by a licensed massage therapist in a private practice?
Do I need a referral or prescription from a doctor or other provider?
Do they require CPT codes to be documented for reimbursement?
What percentage of the session fee will be reimbursed, and is there a visit limit per year?
Take notes during the call so you have a clear record of what they share.
